The State of California issued the Amber Alert late Tuesday (01-18) after the suspect abducted the boy in Patterson. The suspect is believed to be driving to the San Jose area.

Juliani Cardenas, an Hispanic male, 4 years old, 3' 6", 40 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing dark pants and a light blue shirt.

The suspect is Jose Esteban Rodriguez, an Hispanic male, 27 years old, 5' 9", 180 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a white and black shirt, checkered shorts, and a beanie.



The suspect vehicle is a silver Toyota Corolla with California tag number 6HBW445. It has has oversize aluminum wheels. The left rear wheel is the spare wheel (smaller).

Divers find no bodies in Central California canal

PATTERSON, Calif.—Divers on Saturday ended their search in a canal without finding the bodies of a missing 4-year-old boy and his accused kidnapper near the underwater site where the suspect's car was found.

A dive team searched an underwater tunnel for Juliani Cardenas and 27-year-old Jose Esteban Rodriguez without success. Sonars also failed to turn up any sign of bodies.

Juliani Cardenas Missing: Amber Alert Issued for Calif. Boy

SAN JOSE, Calif. (CBS/AP/KPIX) California authorities have issued a statewide Amber Alert for 4-year-old Juliani Cardenas who was allegedly snatched from his grandmother's arms by his mother's ex-boyfriend Tuesday.

...Juliani was in dark sweat pants, a light blue fleece sweater and black Spider Man shoes with lights on them. He is described as a Hispanic boy, 3-feet-6-inches tall and 40 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Authorities initially believed Rodriguez could be heading to San Jose, where he has family. But they now say he has family throughout California, including in the Central Valley, and could be anywhere in the state.

Coroner Trying to ID Child's Body found in Canal, Presser at Noon

SANTA NELLA — The body of a child has been found in a canal, and Officials say it is possibly that of a missing Patterson boy.

The location is about 30 miles south of Patterson, where 4-year-old Juliani Cardenas went missing a few weeks ago.

Around 7:30 Tuesday morning, a worker with the San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority found the body of a child. The location is near Whitworth and McCabe Roads, between Santa Nella and Gustine. The worker was doing routine meter checks in the area when he found the body, and stayed there until law enforcement arrived.

According to Merced County Deputies, they pulled one body from the canal and they say it does match the body and clothing description of Cardenas.

PATTERSON, Calif. — Authorities say the body of a child found in a Central California canal belongs to a 4-year-old boy who was kidnapped from his home earlier this month.
Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christensen said Tuesday that officials have confirmed the body is that of Juliani Cardenas.
Investigators believe Juliani was snatched from his home in Patterson on Jan. 18 by his mother's ex-boyfriend, Jose Rodriguez, who has not been found.

It is so sad that yet another ex-boyfriend decided to punish the mother by killing an innocent child.
Hopefully they do find his body in the canal also. Save the taxpayers a lot of money and the rest of us the frustration of having to hear how bad he had it.

Oh my, this is horrible. Why, why, why...he was literally snatched from the arms of his grandmother.

I hope they find Rodriguez lodged under a bridge somewhere, he took an innocent child's life, and then hopefully took his own. I wonder if these so called men have some freakish primal genetic dysfunction that urges them to kill the offspring of another man. There are primates that do this, so therefore these murderers are not human. They are disgusting and these babies pay the ultimate price for a stranger's ignorance and jealousy that has been brought into their little lives.
