Central Ohio Mom, Son Still Missing
Pair Last Seen Leaving Babysitter's Home

UPDATED: 11:08 am EDT June 13, 2011

NEWARK, Ohio -- Police in central Ohio are investigating the disappearance of a Newark bank teller and her 4-year-old son, who haven't been seen since Thursday.

WCMH-TV in Columbus reports 24-year-old Sara Apple picked up her son, Max, from day care but didn't return home that day.

The station reports Apple's husband said Apple told him she'd be staying at her parents' home in Whitehall but didn't arrive there.

Apple's father, Mark Yohman, said she talks with her mother daily and the disappearance is out of character for her.

Apple was last known to be driving a white 2004 Saturn Ion with Ohio plate FCQ-5079. There is a sticker or decal of a family of four on the Saturn's rear window. The car also is missing a passenger-side rearview mirror.

NEWARK -- As Newark police investigates the four-day disappearance of Sara and Max Apple, their family hopes for any indication that their loved ones are alive and well.

“It's hard to even fathom what's going on,” Sara’s husband, Chris Apple said.

Chris Apple said he has been sick, unable to eat and sleep. He’s spent the past four days either by the phone or passing out fliers.

“My son is everything in the world to me,” Chris Apple said.

They were reported missing Friday after she didn’t show up to work at Fiberglas Federal Credit Union, Snow said.

Over the weekend, Newark police spoke with relatives and friends. No one was aware of any threats or indications that Sara Apple planned to leave, Snow said.

“Nobody had any clue,” Chris Apple said.

She was being treated for depression and stopped taking her medications, Snow said.

I hope they are safe and found soon.
