Quick Peach Cobbler

Post by Piper on Fri Aug 28, 2009 11:16 pm

1 large can sliced peaches in heavy syrup (lighter syrup works, but less flavor)
1 stick of butter or margarine
1 cup self rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk

Melt margarine or butter in a 9x13 casserole dish in hot oven (350 degrees) until bubbly.
Mix flour and sugar in mixing bowl
Add milk and mix until no lumps

Remove baking dish from oven and pour peaches and syrup into hot butter or margerine. Gently mix together.

Pour the milk mixture over the peaches.

Place casserole dish back in oven uncovered for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Check after 15 minutes and make sure top crust does not get too brown. When ready, the top crust will appear a golden brown. This is quick and easy, add cinnamon if desired.

Piper, too too good. I had to make a dessert to take to the athletic banquet tonight for Dakota's Softball team and Dylan's soccer team. I made the peach cobbler and also made a blackberry cobbler over this same recipe and they turned out fabulous. Since I didn't get to go to the banquet, I took out some of each to keep at home to eat tonight and tomorrow.

I'm making this right now Piper! Canned peaches were on sale and hubby loves peach cobbler. Thanks for the recipe! Grandma's is more complicated and the other one I have calls for cake mix that wasn't on sale lol

I hope your peach cobbler turned out fantastic, Dis. I love simple recipes with ingredients you'd have in your cupboard.

Mama, I meant to ask you when we were talking about the cobbler...did you use blackberry pie filling? I've made it with apple filling before. My parents love blackberry pie, it's so expensive. I wanna try the blackberry cobbler for Thanksgiving.

No Piper, I just used canned blackberries in juice. I drained the juice into a glass, rinsed the blackberries, added the juice back into the berries and pour into the mixture. It was great. You can buy blackberries in a can, but my daughter Kelli has always picked blackberries, till they are gone. My mom cans them and gives them out to us at Christmas time. We love them. I usually just take some out of the jar, add a little sugar and milk and eat'em up.

I just commented on the sausage ball thread about the cobbler, it turned out great!! I did add a pinch of cinnamon though, hubby INSISTED that cobbler has cinnamon! LOL He knows only what I have taught him but once in awhile he has an opinion. I don't know when he got brave enough to say it out loud!!!!
